My food adventures often stem from my travel adventures. Food is essential to any good trip. I'd tried to recruit my friends and family to travel the world with me, but I wasn't very successful, what with everyone being busy with school, jobs, or quite simply, being broke. Somehow I had managed to build up a decent savings and have a flexible schedule, but no one else had. When it came time to look for a job, I'd hoped to find one with a lot of vacation days or the opportunity to travel. Then, far from what I ever expected, I started working at the US Patent & Trademark Office. What attracted me to the job was the potential to work from anywhere in the continental US in as little as only 2 years and the ability to work comp time. It did and still does feel like a perfect fit for one eager to venture the world.
And that's where I met Brad; we were in the same incoming class of newbies. And wouldn't ya know, he enjoys food and travel as much as me. And with him having the same job as me, that means he has the same flexibility as I do. I found a travel and food companion!
In March of 2011, I went to Amsterdam and had the best muffins in the world (yes, the world). They were moist and bursting with flavor, oh and they were HUGE! When I departed the country, my biggest regret was that I didn't get to eat more of these heavenly delicious noms. Brad had plans to go to Amsterdam for New Years 2012. I joked how he should bring me back some of these muffins because of their amazingness. And he actually did! He got 3 of them, one of which was the heaven of all heaven, the apple cinnamon! This guy traveled half way around the world and brought me back muffins. And I couldn't have been happier!
This gesture assured me I had found the perfect person to eat the world with. As of now, we have traveled to New York and Mexico, and have trips booked to travel to Germany, Spain, and Florida. After returning from Mexico, we inspired each other to start a blog that documents all of our food and travel adventures. And so it begins...Trippin on Noms.
