Seattle Waterfront

The Seattle waterfront is beautiful! It may not have any beaches but it overlooks Puget Sound with the glorious Olympic Mountains as the backdrop! Really, how many waterfronts do you actually look out past the water and see mountains??

The waterfront is just a short walk from the Space Needle, downtown, and Pike Place Market. If you're feeling fancy, you can stay in a hotel directly on the waterfront. Or you can eat some good food or head to the Seattle Aquarium. It's also where you can catch a ferry to places across the sound. For the most part it is lovely, but as you head south, especially at night, it can get a little sketchy.

We had just left Tim and Steph and were waiting to meet up with our friend Blake later, so we had all of our luggage and needed to eat some dinner. I had eaten at The Crab Pot the last time I was in Seattle; it's a fun place to eat because you get to crack open crabs and use your hands for everything! It was nearby where we were and they let us bring our bulky luggage in so we decided to eat here.

Chihuly Gardens

The Chihuly Gardens are right next to the Space Needle, and I would never have thought to go there if we hadn't gotten the suggestion from our friend. You can buy a combined ticket with the Space Needle so it ends up working out well.

Basically the whole garden is comprised of thousands of blown glass sculptures. The vibrant color, themed pieces, lighting effects, breathtaking shapes, and grandeur of these sculptures will leave you in awe. The garden is both indoor and out and had many pieces that fill the whole room and even ones that are suspended from the ceiling. The only real way to experience this place is to go for yourself, but you should really look at the pictures below because that's much better than what my words can describe!

Space Needle

The iconic Space Needle in Seattle is an observation tower that was built for the 1962 World's Fair. I'd been to Seattle before, but never went up to the top because it's rather expensive. If you're visiting in the warm months, there's probably also going to be an insane amount of tourists waiting in line to go up. I mean there must be, considering you can pay even more to skip the wait and have your own private lift to the top.

This tiny little place in Pike Place Market is famous for some great food! We stopped in quickly on our own food tour of the market and grabbed a Smoked Mozzarella, Mushroom and Broccoli pastry. It definitely had great flavor but I thought it was a little dry. Katherine really liked it though, she didn't think it was dry at all. Although I thought it was a little dry, the flavor alone was enough to make me want to try more of their offerings but we still had way too much other food to try...so off we went to the next stop in the market!
