There were swim-up pool rooms and 6 large pool areas (including 3 swim-up bars). The beach was lined with chairs that offered spots for those who wanted sun and for those who wanted shade. The water temperature of both the sea and the pools was like bath water - maybe even hotter. It was almost to the point where it wasn't refreshing in the harsh Mexican sun and heat. The beach had white sand, and the sea in front of the main area was free of rocks for the most part. However, the further you wandered, the rockier the water got. Brad and I brought water shoes and always wore them into the water to be safe.
The worst part of the resort, by far, was check-in. We waited in line for an hour and a half. Every group up before us had taken at least 20-30 min to check-in (resorts always seem to super explain EVERYTHING about the resort as well as potential excursions). However, when we got up to the desk, we were shooed away in 5 min and left a bit confused as to how the resort worked. Turns out, we needed a towel card to get a towel for the beach, but we never got one, let alone were told how this system worked. I went back to the lobby later and bitched. At this point, I've just come to expect that resorts will mess up with something. That's fine...as long as they make up for their mistakes - that's how you can truly judge a resort. The woman I talked to later was apologetic and very helpful - the next day, all the people on the trip received a bottle of champagne and a fruit plate in our rooms.
One of the rooms (not ours) was also messed up (it hadn't been cleaned from the previous people), so I went and bitched about that too. It took a bit of pushing and convincing, but I was able to get those guys a mega upgraded room. They went from the most basic room to a room with a swim-up pool and jacuzzi in the adults-only section of the resort. They also got access to the spa and the resort's private beach. In my opinion, the resort took care of their issues and definitely made up for them. If there's an issue, you must be assertive at the front desk! It may be a bit inconvenient, but a good resort will give you something much better in return!
Overall, we loved the resort, and after we sorted out a few issues, we were all able to have a fantastic relaxing vacation!
