Would We Come Back?
Possibly, they served very good traditional Spanish tapas, but there are so many other tapas bars to try.

We ended our tapas tour at La Taberna del Cobre, a tapas bar serving very traditional Spanish tapas (at least from what we experienced). I was super excited cuz I finally got some good tortilla, or Spanish omelette. Every place makes their tortilla different. This one was tasty and satisfied my craving...for the time being. We also had sauteed mushrooms, jam packed with flavor. We're both huge fans of mushrooms! I loved the croquettas as always, but Brad learned he just isn't a fan, odd because it's fried meat!

by Katherine ![]() Key Words Tapas Would We Come Back? No, didn't feel like there was anything special here. The first stop on our tapas tour was Bar Balmes, a fairly average tapas bar. Here, we met up with our guide and other people on the tour. We sat down and were asked what we wanted to drink, we each ordered a glass of white wine. There were about 12 of us total, ranging in different ages, but everyone spoke English. The tour was a great way to meet people as we chatted with fellow tourists from America and the Netherlands.
by Bradley ![]() Whenever you go to visit a city you've never been to I highly recommend checking out Viator. It is a site where you can book tours and activities, and they are often posted by individuals and not big companies. They are awesome! I have used Viator multiple times now and this tapas tour was great as well. We started at one tapas bar where we met our guide and others that booked the tour as well. Our guide was a Barcelona native that you can tell loves her city. She was very friendly, knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. by Katherine ![]() Key Words Large Variety, English Friendly, Creative Cuisine, Tapas Would We Come Back? Definitely, excellent twists on traditional Spanish tapas and so many choices! It was our last night in Malaga, and I really wanted to try the food at El Tapeo de Cervantes because I had read excellent things about it and it was right around the corner from the flamenco show. We had snacked earlier, but I knew Brad would be starving afterwards, so we opted for a late dinner. The place was a little cramped, but it had that mom and pop kinda feel to it, as the owner (I presume) greeted us like a grandpa would. I wasn't too hungry but I just wanted to try everything on the menu!
by Bradley ![]() Key Words Tapas, Reasonably Priced, English Friendly Would We Come Back? Yeah, we'd go back to check out the full menu. After leaving the Alcazaba we wanted to grab something quick to eat because we already had lunch but knew dinner would be really late after the Flamenco show that evening. When we walked out of the Alcazaba, there was a restaurant, GARVM, right in front of us that Katherine had looked up previously so it was perfect!
by Katherine ![]() Key Words Tapas, Good Atmosphere, English Friendly Would We Come Back? Oh yeah! The food was good and the bartender was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful! We needed food after walking around the Alhambra for 4 hours, but we had to get back to the bus station so we wouldn't miss the last bus back to Malaga. We really weren't feeling one of those touristy spots with the pictures of food on the menus so we decided to head down one of the streets I had marked for our tapas crawl. We were running low on time so we stopped in the first place that looked somewhat decent, Taberna Salinas, and it did not disappoint.
by Bradley ![]() Key Words Tapas, Large Portions Would We Come Back? Not for a meal, but it is a good stop on a tapas crawl We stopped for a last quick bite before heading up the the Alhambra. This La Bella y La Bestia is one of several restaurant locations in Granada and is known for its large portions. We sat down and ordered our drinks and it was true that the portion size didn't disappoint but the quality suffered.
The chips had some kind of mayo with herbs and had an interesting flavor, I liked it but they were a little chewy. We also got small sandwiches that I found to be a little dry. Nothing was bad but it just didn't blow me away. by Katherine ![]() Key Words Tapas Would We Come Back? Good stop on a tapas crawl, but otherwise no. It's funny that the last time I was in Spain, I specifically learned how to say brains (sesos) so that I would not accidentally order it from a menu. Cuz this trip Brad and I made it a goal to try brains! Now, I'm eager to give things a chance. I mean, how many people can actually say that they've eaten brains?? I knew this was on a lot of tapas menus, so when we came to Los Diamantes, it was time to try them once and for all! |
