Would We Come Back?
Definitely, so much more to try! Also would love to have dinner on the waterfront!

For dinner our first night in Malaga, I had plans to go to another restaurant, but it was randomly closed (but we made it another day for lunch). We had to go to another restaurant, but I had a map of a whole bunch of good ones that I had researched before we left. So we went to Gorki, which was in the center of town.
PictureSelection of 5 Spanish Cheeses
We started off with glasses of cava (essentially Spanish champagne). Then onto the food menu! Soooo many choices! We started naming off things we should get, but that list ended up being too long. The menu is full of many items, ranging from a simple bite to a full meal. You can find plenty of items for cheap on the menu as well!

Our first night in Spain, we just had to get a selection of 5 Spanish cheeses! The torta de barros ended up being a huge hit; I loved the smooth melty consistency. If you picked it up, it would have oozed down, NOMS! We also had manchego, a sharp hard cheese that might possibly be my favorite in all the world. Then there was tetilla, (Brad's favorite), cabrales (a blue cheese), and a less aged manchego. The cheese plate was pure heaven and a LOT of food! That alone (sharing with Brad) was a meal in and of itself. We also got several types of bread and crackers to go along with the cheese.

Bacon and cheese always get us; next we got a montadito (I would call it a Spanish bruschetta) with bacon, goat cheese, and fried onion. I wasn't sure if it would come out hot or cold, but it was toasted so it was soooo good!! The fried onion added crispiness and oniony goodness to the creaminess of the montadito. We ordered the smaller of the 2 sizes, but it was a pretty large portion for the price.

We also ordered 2 bite-size toasts. Each one was only 1.50 € and the toppings were pretty large for only a bite. Brad and I easily split them and still got all the flavor and a mouthful. Brad of course wanted the jamon with asparagus. He called it the perfect bite with the crispy asparagus, the creamy mayo, and the salty meat. I preferred the date stuffed with jamon Iberico (a high quality cured ham) and cheese. I'm finding dates are amazing, especially when they are stuffed with cheese. This bite had the perfect comination of sweet and salty.

So after already a lot of food, we still ordered entrees. Brad got deer filet, which was good cuz he talked a lot about venison in Germany. He enjoyed it, but thought it lacked the gaminess that deer should have. I ordered the squid cooked in its own ink. I know squid ink doesn't have a lot of flavor, but I'd been wanting to try this for a long time. While I too enjoyed my dish, it lacked flavor and spice. The consistency, however, was nice with the rice really soaking up and retaining the sauce, and the squid was cooked well.

I really loved Gorki and would love to go back and try ALL of the small portion dishes. A couple of days later, Brad and I discovered another location on the waterfront. It would have been beautiful to dine at, but even our outdoor seating in town was nice. We'll just have to go back to Malaga!

Hours: Not sure, but TripAdvisor says it's open for brunch, lunch, and dinner.
