Would We Come Back?
Yeah, the quality and flare of this Asian cuisine made it top notch and worth it to go to over German food.

For dinner on the second day we ended up going to an Asian restaurant, that was fine by me because it is one of my favorite cuisines. This was the last day of my Dad's trip and my brother has German food all the time so I think they were in the mood for something a little different.

When I think of Germany I don't immediately think of good Asian food, but then again, what we have in the US isn't anything like actual Asian cuisine anyway. Well after eating at Madame Thu Trang's I know they understand this cuisine as well.

We started off with fresh spring rolls (not fried) filled with rice, noodles, lettuce, Vietnamese herbs along with fish sauce ‘nuoc mam’ & hoisin sauce to dip. The ones we got had smoked salmon, mango and dill. They were interesting because they weren't fried but they still had a crunch to them because of the filling. I loved the orange sauce, slightly spicy and tangy, it reminded me of a fancy sweet and sour sauce. And of course I love hoisin sauce too. My only complaint was the salmon flavor was understated and got overpowered.

To the left below is a seafood salad with mango and the orange sauce from the spring rolls, Katherine really enjoyed it despite it being a little spicy. The soup to the right below was amazing. I love Thai soups and this one was a lemongrass, chicken and mushroom soup that I'm used to but they used extra coconut milk and made it creamier and even more delicious - I could'v ordered 10 more of those soups.

When I order fried rice I always get the vegetarian one, I get meat in my entree and just really like all the veggies that come in fired rice. The vegetables were not the star of this dish however, the rice was incredible. It was like they took sticky rice or sushi rice and fried it, the texture was like nothing I'd had before and whatever rice they used needs to be the only one ever used for fried rice. My brother Tim also commented that they probably have some old wok that they've been using for hundreds of years that is just so well seasoned that the rice turns out amazing. Maybe that's true, I don't know, but if you are in Ansbach, Germany you have to have this fired rice!

After having tried all those other dishes I was looking forward to my main course. I had beef with veggies and rice noodles, lemongrass and garlic. It was a good dish and had an appropriate level of spice but didn't compare to the other dishes. Don't get me wrong, it was tasty, it just didn't win the top prize for me - although it got some bonus points for being such a large portion size, especially with all the noodles!
