by Katherine ![]() On our bus ride to the botanical gardens, we passed the stadium where the Malaga soccer team plays. As it turned out, they had actually made it pretty far in the Champions League. We had caught the end of the game two nights earlier showing on a TV outside at a restaurant near Gorki, but they lost, ending their chances at winning it all. No matter where you are in Europe, you really should check out a soccer stadium. I of course had little interest in touring a stadium that didn't belong to Real Madrid, my favorite team. And tickets are just so damn expensive to just go see any other team. But soccer is HUGE in Europe! I went to a Real Madrid Champions League a couple years back in Madrid and it was epic! The fans go crazy, sing chants, and cheer all game long. They even light fires in Italy. But soccer, or futbol as they call it more properly in Spain, is a big part of European culture and you should take part in it!
