Would We Come Back?
No, after a second time back, we were disappointed by both entrees and rather try
one of many other restaurants in DC.
Nage is a hotel restaurant in DC that we decided to try because firstly there was a groupon deal and secondly their menu had grilled octopus!
We started off with a little snack of Nage frites. Fries are always so simple yet delicious and when we ordered these we got the surprise that they were a mix of both traditional and sweet potato fries. When choosing a side dish I often times have a hard time deciding between the two but this time I didn't have to. These fries definitely set the tone for a great meal to come.
We also indulged in the creamy butternut squash soup. It was rich and flavorful and was very satisfying on a cold, winter day in the city.
As for me, I went for the Beef Bourguignon. This hearty stew was the perfect thing to fill me up. The warm broth was soothing, the beef was tender and the vegetables were al dente. The porcini mushrooms were the real star of the dish, they soaked up the broth like little spounges and imparted so much flavor to the rest of the stew.
Dessert (not pictured) was a pear sorbet. Unfortunately the picture didn't turn out but it was tasty nonetheless. It was just a couple of small scoops and chocolate pirouline, Katherine did not realize at first that it was chocolate and took a bite. I knew she didn't like chocolate but that was the first time I witnessed her eat it first hand - she was not happy after taking that bite. Besides the chocolate mishap we enjoyed our food and would recommend trying this restaurant.
