Pike Place Market

Pike Place Market in Seattle is the quintessential food market of the world (at least of the ones I've been to so far)! Even the locals love it! I'd gone once the last time I was in Seattle and quickly fell in love. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of coming at the end of the trip both last visit and this visit, and therefore, it wasn't really feasible to buy a bunch of seafood and fresh produce to cook up for dinner.

Pike Place is probably most famous for the throwing of the fish. It takes place at the seafood stand at the center of the market, near the main entrance of the main building. Whenever someone orders a fish, the guys will give it a toss. Very entertaining when it's a big fish! They also let us sample some smoked salmon!

Speaking of samples, take full advantage of all the samples around the market! You can try fruits, salmon, oils, cheeses, dips, hot sauces, and more!! It's a foodie heaven! There are also a bunch of other stands and shops selling jewelry, art prints, posters, etc. The market really is quite big! It also offers great views of the sound and the Olympics when walking around outside. You could spend a good chunk of the day here, getting fat, but my suggestion is to just stop here multiple times throughout your visit and slowly make your way through all the food opportunities!
