This resort was built on an existing nature park and on the property there are 3 rivers and 9 cenotes. The beach is small compared to other resorts in the area but is still very nice and secluded from the view of neighboring resorts. While other resorts may offer a larger beach area, the beach at Hacienda Tres Rios is beautiful ,and other resorts don't have nearly as much to offer. There are hundreds of resorts available that have nice beaches and sometimes I'm in the mood for a vacation where I just sit on the beach all day and that's all I do. But don't you want to do some other interesting things in addition to the beach?
In general the other food was just average resort food but there was a lot of it available all day. Drinks were light on the alcohol but you could order as many as you wanted so it didn't matter, or if you went to the buffet you could pour your own alcoholic drinks and make them as strong as you like. They were slightly limited on the kinds of cocktails they could make, and the selection varied if you were at a beach bar or a bar in a restaurant. Despite the somewhat limited selection, they still could make most drinks you would want on the beach (Margarita, Mojito, just a cold beer, etc).
Overall it was an amazing trip including the experience of all of what the resort had to offer and an excursion to Mayan ruins at Tulum. Hopefully I've wet your taste buds because I've only scratched the surface of the experiences we had - each on their own deserves more detail than I have provided here. With that I welcome you to Playa del Carmen.
