The people and the food make us want to jump in a plane and go back now! Let me start out by saying Delfino's has hands down, the best service at a restaurant in all of Europe!! Europe is known for its notoriously bad service at restaurants, but at Delfino's this is NOT the case. An awesome seafood restaurant in Marina Grande on the sea in Sorrento, Delfino's was one of our best experiences in restaurants in Europe! Or anywhere really. I'm pretty sure that this is a family run restaurant; two of the guys were brothers. They were awesome, along with a woman, all of whom made us feel like part of their family! And they all came to our table multiple times! There was always someone there, taking our plates and asking if everything was ok. Seriously, this NEVER happens in Europe! They were soooo attentive! I had found Delfino's in my research; it had great reviews and it was on the water so of course we had to go. We came immediately here after our ferry ride back from Capri. We started off with a complementary bruschetta, with juicy delicious tomatoes oozing all over! In Italy, you often pay a cover charge, usually 2-3 Euros. So this alone justified this charge. We of course ordered some wine and another seafood salad. The waiter poured the wine in our glasses, but then a moment later Brad noticed a spider had gotten into his glass. We notified one of the waiters, who brought a new glass, but without wine. We tried explaining that there was already wine in the glass, but she didn't speak the best English so another waiter came over. We barely explained and he exclaimed 'OK' and hurried off. He came back with a full glass of wine, a lot more than what was in it before. This was the first sign that our waiters were the best and that a great night was to come! We quickly gobbled up our seafood salad, which was delicious, but the best part of the meal were our pasta and risotto! When we got our plate, one of the brothers/waiters joked that we better finish everything and having seen that we were taking pictures of our food, added that we should take a before and after picture - because the after picture would show a completely empty plate :) We really enjoyed his comments and laughed with him like friends telling jokes together. We couldn't disappoint him - we had to finish! Now usually this isn't an issue, but the portions were BIG! I got the Risotto Delfino (a seafood risotto) and Brad got the Calamarata Delfino (a pasta with clams, zucchini, and shrimp). Seafood pastas are more expensive than a vegetable or meat pasta, but we definitely got our money's worth and then some!! There was literally at least one piece of seafood in every bite, but really it was more like 3 pieces of seafood in each bite! I had mussels, claims, squid, octopus, shrimps, and maybe more! I love how there was actually octopus in it too! My favorite! I have never seen so much seafood in a pasta dish before - it was heaven!!! I felt like I was eating the sea! At last we finished our plates-success! Well, we took the waiter's advice - we took a picture of our empty plate - before & after! The waiters seemed seriously impressed that we had cleaned our plates! We were overjoyed at how good the food was and how much there was! I'm glad we could share our joy with the awesome people who work there! The food was amazingly delicious!! And to top it off, we got limoncello shots - on the house! A perfect ending to a perfect meal! We promised the waiters that we will be back one day soon! I'd go there now if I could!!
