Rothenburg ob der Tauber: The Wall

          One of the coolest things about Rothenburg is that it is a fully contained walled city. You can walk probably about 90-95% of the wall and when I was here in 2011 we walked most of the walkable sections; this trip Katherine and I walked all of it!

          Walking the wall is pretty cool because when I say walk it, you are actually walking on top of it. This is where archers and swordsmen would have defended the city. There are many towers and you can go inside some of them. You get to see the city, cannons on the wall, bridges, vistas of the valley behind the city and a feel for what it would be like to defend the city.

          I think it's fun to walk the whole wall but I would recommend that everyone walk at least a portion of it (there are many places to get up and down from the wall). Take a look at some of the great pictures of the wall below!
