Front of Würzburg Residenz
Our second day in Germany was much more laid back than our very busy first day. We slept in; I was lucky enough to have slept a few hours on the plane, but Brad was not. So we didn't head out til about 1:00, leaving us with only a few hours to spend in Würzburg. Brad had been there before, and Würzburg is small enough to do in half a day so it was a good choice for a more relaxing day. Also, as an added bonus, the sun decided to join us.

Touring the gardens
One place that Brad had not gone to was the Würzburg Residenz, so we stopped there first. Since we had limited time we didn't actually go in the Residenz, but we did explore the gardens. I'm more of a fan of gardens and outside architecture than interior decor so I considered it a fulfilling tour of the Residenz. Even in the cold, the gardens were still beautiful; a few flowers were popping up and the trees and bushes were uniquely trimmed.

The cone-shaped trees each had an interesting statue at its base. There's a pond and a fountain; it would be a lovely place for a picnic. And even at a lower altitude, there were still plenty of vistas; you could see Marienberg Fortress and several churches in the distance. Overall, the gardens are a nice place for a stroll. Maybe next time we'll tour the inside of the Residenz.
